Choosing the right eye surgeon for your laser eye surgery is the most important thing you’ll do regarding the service – it’s hard to know who to trust. Here are a few suggestions for picking the right doctor for your eye surgery:
Look Online: Use your http://www.satellitestarinternet.com/ connection to look into doctor reviews made by people in your area and Google any doctors you’re considering to find out what people are saying about them. Discard anyone with ‘red flag’ reviews.
Ask Around: If you’re on Facebook or Twitter, put out a post to those in your community asking for suggestions. Likewise, talk to your friends about where they had their LASIK – the best recommendations come from people you know and who know what you’ll be looking for right off the bat.
Do Some Research: The best way to know if you’re going to be comfortable with the doctor you’ve chosen is to do a lot of research on the procedure yourself then ask tons of questions. See what kind of vibe you get and determine whether or not the doctor knows the answers to the questions you’re asking.

Having bad eye sight can cause a lot of stress for many. With the advent of technology today, there are many procedures such as laser eye surgery that can help those see better than every again. If you’re thinking about considering this procedure, here are ten reasons why you should consider:

1 Feel Comfortable Again: You’re going to no longer have to wear those bulky eyeglasses or even put on your contact lenses in the morning. You can find a quick rundown here

2 No Recovery Time: Laser eye surgery can give you results almost instantly. Most find that their healing times are less than a handful of days.

3 Great Vision: Once the surgery has been completed, you’re almost going to be certain that you’re going to see better than ever before.

4 Build Self Esteem: Those that can’t see may get rather frustrated when they can’t see things such as a road sign, chalkboard in class, etc. Having sight again can commonly build one’s self esteem.

5 Freedom: You no longer have to worrying about lugging your glasses around or even remember them the next time you plan your vacation. Simply wake up and get on with your day.

6 Great For Sports: For those that play sports, it’s critical to consider something such as this. Since sports such as basketball and hockey make it rather hard to wear glasses, laser surgery can make sports a lot more fun.

7 Fashion Statements: Many of those that are into fashion find that wearing glasses can throw off their wardrobe. Without glasses, there’s no worrying about what to wear.

8 Great Investment: For a one time fee of surgery, you no longer have to worry about setting up appointments, buying eyeglasses or even getting contacts.

9 Save Time: Think of all the time that you have wasted putting your contacts in as well as putting them away. This is no more!

10 Sleep Better: If you want to nap, don’t worry about sleeping with your contacts in. Instead, take a snooze and no more worries with waking up with crusty contacts.

Before laser eye surgery, I could not clearly see the large letter at the top of the eye chart. I had worn glasses since the third grade and my eyes had been plagued by infections ever since converting to contacts. My doctor consulted me on the two options of laser surgery that were available. I chose Photorefractive Keratectomy over Lasik because I did not want the slightest possibility of my active lifestyle leading to a dislocation of the cornea flap.

PRK is an older and more painful form of laser eye surgery. The cornea is sanded away after a local anesthetic is applied. The laser adjustments are painless, but my vision did not instantly improve as it would have with Lasik. I suffered through a month of extreme sensitivity to light, which caused me to wear sunglasses even at night. I was fully blind for two days while I followed a regimen of steroid drops in each eye. When the healing was done my vision was returned to 20/20.

Laser eye surgery vastly improved my life by freeing me from glasses. In five years my sight has not diminished in the slightest, and I have no risk of cornea disruption.

If you are tired of the inconvenience and chronic expenses associated with wearing glasses or contact lenses, laser vision surgery may be the solution you have been seeking. Laser vision therapy offers the potential of a permanent vision correction and the end of the inconvenience and expense of vision appliances.

Your eyes are unique and require a treatment tailed specifically for them. There are several forms of laser vision surgery. A knowledgeable and experienced surgeon will be able to determine which type of surgery would be most appropriate for your unique needs.

As you explore the possibility of laser surgery and speak to different surgeons, ask about their experience. In how many types of laser surgery are they trained and experienced? Are any of their patients eye doctors themselves? If you should be dissatisfied with the outcome of your surgery, how far will they go to make things right?

One other consideration is the cost of laser vision surgery. Although most insurance plans do not cover the cost of this surgery, it does qualify under Flexible Spending Accounts. Financing plans are also widely available. There is also the possibility that you may qualify for a tax deduction related to your surgery, but check with an accountant for details.

There are many pros and cons to consider when deciding if laser eye surgery is right for you.
The benefits include saving money on glasses, contacts, exams and solution, and the convenience of not wearing glasses or contacts while participating in activities. Applying make-up or shaving would be less complicated, and surgery would eliminate the problem of misplaced or lost glasses.
There is also the advantage of avoiding complications associated with long term use of contact lenses.

There are a variety of risks that need to be evaluated before deciding on surgery.
Over-correction and under-correction are two possible risks that may result in additional surgery.
Double vision is also a possibility, along with night myopia, which is characterized by blurry vision at night.
There are also several flap abnormalities that may occur as a result of surgery. The flap may start to disintegrate or it might become improperly aligned. The flap may also become detached, though it can usually be reattached. These conditions require further surgery.
There is also the risk of suffering from chronic dry eyes after the procedure. This condition can result in blurry vision.
Although there are numerous risks, the majority of eye surgeries are performed with no complications.

If you have desired to have Lasik surgery, it is important that you be open with the surgeon about all you physical issues with your eyes. If your eyes seem dryer than normal and you often experience irritated eyes, there may be a medical problem that needs to be addressed. The same is true is you are plagued by double vision.

Dry eyes can be a complication caused by several different issues. Dry eyes can be caused by your tear ducts releasing insufficient tears, a result of aging or menopause, medications taken for blood pressure or Parkinson’s disease or birth control or it could be the result of living in a dry and dusty environment. Double vision can be caused by weak eye muscles, cataracts, nerve issues, brain problems or cornea problems. All of which require medical attention. Some of the issues are relatively easy to resolve, others require more long term attention.

When you sit down to talk to your doctor about Lasik surgery, these issues should be discussed. He will probably want to deal immediately with the dry eyes or double vision before preceeding with the Lasik surgery. Lasik surgery is a lasting procedure that should be completed on a healthy eye to get the best result. Eyes that are not performing well before the surgery will be performing the same way after surgery. Correct your eye issues before surgery and enjoy better vision and comfort after the Lasik surgery is complet. You thought this was good? Brace yourself: LASIK Surgery: Is It for Kids?
